How often do I take the medication?
All three medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro) are taken once weekly via a simple subcutaneous injection. They stay in your body for about a week, which is why weekly dosing is effective.
Is there a standard dose?
There's no single "right" dose for everyone. Your clinician will work with you to find what feels best, balancing comfort, side effects, and results.
Some people stay on a lower dose for longer; others move up over time. The goal is always the same: to help you feel well, manage side effects, and see sustainable progress at a pace that suits you.
What if I miss a dose?
Ozempic and Wegovy:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible within 5 days. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the usual day. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Mounjaro:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible within 4 days. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the usual day. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
*If you've missed multiple doses, please contact us to discuss restarting your treatment.
Can I switch between medications?
Yes, if a different medication is more suitable for you. Your clinician may sometimes prescribe what's called an "off-label dose" when switching. This means the dose chosen is not the officially approved starting dose but is deemed safe and appropriate for your circumstances.
An off-label dose may help you:
- Continue your current weight loss progress when switching medication
- Avoid restarting on a lower dose and slowly increasing it again
You might notice more side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea. Alternatively, you can start the new medication at the licensed starting dose and increase it gradually, or stay on your current medication if it's still working for you.
Am I supposed to have some leftover Ozempic at the beginning?
If you are taking Ozempic, you will have 1mg of additional medication at the end of your first 4 weeks of treatment. This is stable at room temperature for an additional 8 weeks.
